Welcome to Science!
Welcome to our website for 8th Grade Science and AP Chemistry! I'm so excited to continue our school year with the addition of this website. This site will serve as a resource for our class (for both parents and students) and contains important information including assignments, due dates, reminders, resources, contact information and more. Please familarize yourself with the layout of this site, paying special attention to the "Assignments" and "Resources" pages. Students: you will use this site primarily for assignments and due dates. Should you be absent, everything you missed in class will be here! Parents: you may use this site to stay up to date on your student's science class, as I will post announcements and reminders on a regular basis. You also have access to resource information to help your student with their assignments at home! Finally, you can also use this site as an easy way to contact me under the "Contact Me" page. I'm so happy you're here, and I can't wait to continue the school year with you. Go Dragons!
Meet the Teacher!
Hi! I'm Kimberly Magana, and I'm your student's science teacher! I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisiciplinary Studies with concentrations in Biology, Health, and Psychology. After graduation, I decided to enroll in an alternative certification program through Texas Teachers, and I began teaching in August of 2015. I'm originally from Dallas, TX and I moved to the El Paso area in June 2016 after my husband was accepted to medical school in Las Cruces, NM. We live in Las Cruces with our two fur babies Sasha (a Siberian husky) and Luna (a giant Alaskan malamute). I decided to continue teaching in Texas, rather than New Mexico, because I will always consider Texas to be my home. Science used to be my least favorite subject in school--I thought it was about dirt and rocks and stars, but my freshman biology course in college changed all of that. I fell in love with science (even the dirt, rocks, and stars) and decided to share that passion with others through education. My goal as an educator is to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions, cultivates scienctific inquiry, and promotes 21st century skills. Please feel free to contact me via email, [email protected], with any questions, comments, or concerns!
